Included are score card, recording form and comprehensive instructions are also provided to support plotting of a graph with the child’s results indicating the relationship of visual acuity and contrast sensitivity. Normal ratios are also indicated to permit comparison. The booklet is printed on high-quality styrene plastic for long term durability.
Good-Lite Pediatric Low Contrast Near Test
This is a Pediatric Near Contrast Test Booklet with contrast sensitivity levels of full contrast (100%), 25%, 10%, 5%, 2.5%, and 1.25% proportionally spaced (LogMAR) lines ranging from 20/400 to 20/16 using Michelson measures. One side of each page features LEA symbols for testing of 3-5 year old children. The reverse side features LEA numbers for testing 5-8 year old children. The near contrast testing is an efficient way to detect or track occular pathologies, including glaucoma, ARMD, diabetic retinopathy, cataract, and keratoconus. Low contrast acuity loss measurement can be used to demonstrate progress in the treatment of the disease and help the parents of the child understand the need for continued support. This new pediatric test is comparable to the adult Holladay Functional Acuity Contrast Test (F.A.C.T) which is no longer available. It is also complementary with the Adult Near Contrast Test. This test is used at 16 inches which makes it much more likely to hold the attention of young patients. Administration is faster than repositioning a patient to use a distance contrast test such as the Pelli-Robson (for adults only). Since both full contrast and other contrast levels are presented under the same conditions, the illumination is identical. This allows accurate comparison of the results at the various contrast levels.
